The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) is the public broadcaster of the Republic of Mauritius, formed on June 8, 1964. Its funding comes from the levying of a television licence fee (60%) and commercials (40%) .

MBC's television network currently consists of three analog channels, MBC1, MBC2 and MBC3, as well as six digital channels, MBCDigital1, MBCDigital2, MBCDigital3, MBCDigital4, MBCDigital5 and MBCDigital6. Two new digital terrestrial channels are to be launched in mid-March. These innovative channels will be the 'Movie Channel' and the 'Sports Channel'. A project for a 24-hour rolling news station is under way and will provide an interactive platform for local, regional and international news.

Le Mauricien is a French-language newspaper, based and distributed in Mauritius. The newspaper, founded in 1908, is released daily and is one of the most read in Mauritius. The publishers, Le Mauricien Ltd., also publish Week-End, Week-End Scope and Turf Magazine.

It is also the most colourful newspaper of the island. It is an independent newspaper with strong editorial content.

Le Mauricien celebrated its hundredth anniversary in 2008. It has been edited by some of the country's most reputed writers like Raoul Rivet, Andre Masson, Lindsay Riviere among others. The new editor is Gaetan Seneque as of February 2010. Its editor and director was Raoul Rivet from 1922 to 1957.

"Le Mauricien" adopted the offset press in 1978 and subsequently experienced changes namely by growing from four pages to the current twenty-four daily edition. Its price has evolved as well.
